View USF Tampa Plant Record: Taxodium distichum

Scientific Name Taxodium distichum
Common Name "Bald Cypress, Pond Cypress"
Family Cupressaceae
Info "Young trees were 8-15ft, some more mature ones over 40ft. These grow with a vertical trunk and angular, mostly straight branches pointing towards the sky. The distinction between T. distichum and T. ascendens is subtle and their status as distinct species may be dubious. For simplicity, we are only recognizing T. distichum here."
Found By "Douglas Franz, Angel Aquino, Christine Nguyen, Kyle Fleming, Peter Simoes"
Date Found 1/22/2013
Resource "These trees were young and almost all dormant outside of the red office building, covered with lichens and bryophytes. Other much larger specimens found in other places had leaves, some even had exposed root systems."
