Info Large deciduous tree of the Fagaceae family which is native to North America. Used predominantly in large parking lot islands due its ability to tolerate unfavorable conditions and the shade it provides by its large canopy.

Resource The roasted seed can been used as a coffee substitute and the mulched leaves have been used to repel grubs and slugs.
